Client Objectives:

·        Refurbishment of rural posting facilities to comply with minimal health & safety standards.

 

·       Improve the working environment for Royal Mail staff.

 

·      Allow for flat access to the working areas.

ACP Role:

This practice was the lead consultant over a team including:-

 

·       M & E Design and Installation.

  ·        Planning Supervision.
  ·        Structural Engineers.
 

·        Party Wall Surveyors.

   

Outcome:

Following detailed Feasibility Studies of various options the works were prepared and executed including:-

 

·        Budget Estimates.

 

·        Schedules of Works & Contracts

 

·        Working Drawings.

 

·        Building Regulation Approval.

  ·        Planning Permission.
  ·        Party Wall Agreements.
   

Generally:

The projects were successful and are all complete with the offices now being used by Royal Mail staff in the rural area.

   

Tender Documentation:

The form of contract used was IFC 84 with Royal Mail amendments and were subject to single stage selective tendering. In addition, detailed plans and a schedule of works, incorporating the Engineering and Security works were prepared.

   

On Site Period:

The works were programmed for both in hours and out of hours periods, with temporary arrangements agreed with the local Sub Postmaster and, in some cases, out housing of the Royal Mail staff during the works.

Statutory and Other Approvals:

The following approvals were sought and gained:-

 

·        Building Regulation approval.

 

·        Planning Permission:- Building alterations.

 

·        Fire Officer’s approval.

  ·        Post Office internal authority process.
 

·        Party Wall Agreements.

   

Post Contract:

The works have been completed and have now passed their end of defects periods and are complete.
